What silt fence is
Silt fence is a temporary barrier made of fabric stretched between posts along the low side of disturbed ground. The bottom edge is buried in a trench. It slows runoff and holds back soil, so sediment stays on the site and out of storm drains, streams, and neighboring properties.
Where it is used
Silt fence goes along the downhill edge of construction sites, around soil stockpiles, and near ditches, drains, and wet areas. It is common on new home sites, commercial projects, and any job where soil is exposed.
Installation
We install silt fence to your erosion control plan. Details such as fence height, post spacing, and trench depth are set by the plan or by local requirements, so send us the plan or tell us what your project calls for. If you are not sure what the site needs, call and we will talk it through.
Removal
Silt fence is temporary. It comes out once the ground is stabilized, usually when grass or other cover is established, or when your plan or inspector says the site is ready. Tell us when the site is stable and we will schedule removal. We can quote installation and removal together.
Who we work for
Home builders, general contractors, developers, and property owners.
What we need for a quote
- Site address
- Approximate linear feet of silt fence, or your site plan
- When you need it installed
- Whether you want removal quoted too
Rules and permits
Many construction projects in Indiana must follow erosion and sediment control requirements, and local rules differ by city and county. Your builder, engineer, or local permitting office can tell you what applies to your site. We install what your plan requires.
